Business development strategy
My day usually starts with reviewing active projects and checking in with clients to ensure everything’s running smoothly. From there, I might dive into proposal writing, meetings with the research team, or calls with new prospects. It’s a balance of maintaining strong relationships with key accounts while also chasing new business. No two days are the same, which keeps things interesting and rewarding.
I focus on being a true partner rather than just a service provider. That means taking the time to understand each client’s business goals, proactively identifying opportunities, and delivering consistently. Regular communication, transparency, and going the extra mile are key.
Active listening is incredibly underrated in business development. It’s not just about hearing what clients say, but truly understanding their challenges, concerns, and unspoken needs. When you listen well, you build trust and uncover opportunities that might otherwise be missed. It helps create more meaningful conversations and ensures that the solutions you offer are genuinely tailored to their business objectives.
If I could go anywhere tomorrow, I’d choose Brazil—or South America in general. I’m drawn to the vibrant culture, incredible natural landscapes, and the energy of cities like Rio de Janeiro. There’s something fascinating about the mix of history, music, food, and nature. Whether it’s exploring the Amazon, relaxing on the beaches, or experiencing local festivals, it feels like a trip full of adventure and discovery.
One project I’m especially proud of was with the University of Amsterdam. They tasked us with conducting a study focused on surveying Muslim individuals in the Netherlands. It was a particularly challenging project due to the sensitive nature of the topic and the difficulty in reaching the target audience. We used multiple outreach channels and tailored our approach carefully. Despite the complexity, we successfully recruited the required number of participants, and the project was completed to the client’s satisfaction. It was a great example of perseverance, adaptability, and thoughtful engagement.
